Kancha Ilaiah Shepherd

Kancha Ilaiah Shepherd is is Director, Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad. He is best known for his work, Why I am Not a Hindu: A Sudra Critique of Hindutva Philosophy Culture and Political Economy. He has authored several books including Post-Hindu India: A Discourse in Dalit-Bahujan, Socio-Spiritual and Scientific Revolution. His book for young adults with Navayana,  Turning the Pot, Tilling the Land, has been translated into Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Ilaiah has also written the introductions to Navayana’s annotated selections of B.R. Ambedkar’s writings—Riddles in Hinduism and Beef, Brahmins and Broken Men.
