Lakshmi Holmström

Lakshmi Holmström is a writer, and a translator of Tamil fiction and poetry. She is the co-editor of The Rapids of a Great River: The Penguin Book of Tamil Poetry (2009). She won the Crossword Book Award for her translation of Bama’s Karukku (2000) and the Crossword-Hutch Award for her translation of Ambai’s short stories, In a Forest, A Deer (2007). She was a Royal Literary Fund writing fellow, University of East Anglia, 2003–06, and is one of the founding trustees of SALIDAA (South Asian Diaspora Literature and Arts Archive). She is the co-editor and translator of A Second Sunrise, a selection of poetry by Cheran.
