At a time when the BJP is organising Bhakti Sandhyas for Ambedkar on his 126th birth anniversary, and in Bhilwada, the Congress ‘SC Cell’ bathed an Ambedkar statue in 126 kilos of milk, Navayana in association with The Centre for Dalit Studies at the Department of English, Arts Faculty, Delhi University, is mounting a two-week long exhibition called The Ganja–Mahua Chronicles by Venkat Raman Singh Shyam and S. Anand.
The show will be inaugurated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, 19 April 2017.
At 10.30, S. Anand, publisher of Navayana will present a talk called “All’s Vitthal, Vitthal’s All: The Great Confluence Around Vitthal”—a journey into the world of Abhangs via Bhimrao Ambedkar and Bhimsen Joshi with a few necessary digressions into how musical idiom is shaped by social location and history.
At 11.30 am, artists Venkat and Anand will conduct a walkthrough of the exhibition.
At 12 noon, there will be a discussion on the book Ambedkar: The Attendant Details by Prof Raj Kumar, Prof Tapan Basu and research scholars Debayudh Chatterjee and Rohan Kamble.
